Minnesota VFW Chaplain Len Gudmunson opened his keynote speech with memories of World War I in honor of the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the official end of World War I hostilities.
 The Forest Lake VFW held a Veterans Day program on Nov. 11. Joanne Ploetz, the wife of the late John Ploetz, a Vietnam veteran, wore her husband’s military jacket as his memory was honored through the dedication of a sidewalk paver to be placed in Lakeside Memorial Park. Other pavers were dedicated to veteran Pete Hegseth and deceased veterans Robert Bullard, Bobbie Jaqua, Tammie Make, Terry Durei, Troy Lockert, John Westlund and Dale Wold.
