Republican Tom Hackbarth of Oak Grove cruised to victory Tuesday night in his race against Louise Woodberry in State House District 31B. Hackbarth pulled in 13,101 votes compared to 8,391 for Woodberry. Locally, the new District 31B includes Columbus and Linwood. Hackbarth, a former small business owner, is a strong supporter of racinos.
With three town board supervisor positions open, only one incumbent kept his seat in Linwood in the Nov. 6, 2012 election. Winners were Phil Osterhus, Carol Searing, and Edward Kramer. Town clerk Judith Hanna barely held her post.
It was never close in the race for District 6’s seat on the Anoka County Board of Commissioners. Board Chair Rhonda Sivarajah rolled to a 13,177-7,473 victory over Kevin Ryan. All 16 precincts have reported.
Hugo Mayor Fran Miron has grabbed the lead and is padding in in the race for the District 1 seat on the Washington County Board of Commissioners.
