A Forest Lake family is dealing with the aftermath of losing its house to a fire on May 18. For Brian and Becky Richert and their two children, that already-difficult process has been complicated by gawkers at the site of the fire.
A large house built six years ago near the shore of Forest Lake was lost to fire Sunday afternoon. The Forest Lake Fire Department took a call to 21034 Karoline Court at 3:30 p.m. and spent three hours fighting the blaze. Though no one was injured, the fire proved too far along for firefighters to salvage the residence.
Due to the recent rains and cooler temperatures the fire danger is now low across the entire state of Minnesota. As a result, the Fire Chiefs of Washington County are lifting the burning ban that has been in place since Oct. 5. The cancellation of the ban is effective beginning 5 p.m. today, October 26. [...]
