After waiting eight months since the City Council tabled discussion of maintenance needs at Forest Lake parks, members of the Park Board spent another 80 minutes with the topic in limbo at Monday’s City Council meeting. The council rewarded their patience by agreeing to fund $268,000 for a host of repairs, upgrades and additions to parks and trails.
Discussion about garbage is seldom as interesting and controversial as it was before a packed chambers at Monday’s Forest Lake City Council meeting. After several motions and a brief tabling of the issue, a 3-2 vote put Forest Lake Sanitation’s parent company, SRC Inc., in position to continue its decades-long run as the city’s lone residential refuse hauler.
