The second phase in a two-step plan won City Council approval last week, and Forest Lake’s new street improvement system is now up and running.
Clear Lake is in good shape. The 432-acre body of water in southern Forest Lake is considered a Tier 1 lake by the Rice Creek Watershed District, meaning it routinely provides recreational opportunities and represents a high-quality resource for fish and wildlife.
The roundabout in downtown Forest Lake has existed for three years. While its design will be simplified next month to reduce fender-benders, long-term plans are proceeding for a pair of roundabouts 1.4 miles south, where Highway 61 hits Highway 97.
The south end of the Westlake Plaza, vacated by Rainbow Foods in January, will not sit empty for much longer.
It’s been called the municipal campus, the public safety/city hall facility and the Northland Mall redevelopment area. Now it has an official name.
