Forest Lake Parks

After waiting eight months since the City Council tabled discussion of maintenance needs at Forest Lake parks, members of the Park Board spent another 80 minutes with the topic in limbo at Monday’s City Council meeting. The council rewarded their patience by agreeing to fund $268,000 for a host of repairs, upgrades and additions to parks and trails.

Most recommendations are years away from reality, and all require funding not yet secured, but a plan outlining additions and improvements to Forest Lake’s parks and trails system is nearing completion.

A public open house on the city of Forest Lake’s Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, at City Hall. The City Council last week addressed two more positions of the wide-ranging city staff reorganization plan approved last fall. To date, the four-phase plan has been implemented on a reactive basis through retirements and resignations. The latest action stems from the resignation of Park Director Renae Reedy and the retirement of building secretary Caroline Norelius.
