The Scandia City Council has ended the debate about repairing versus replacing the rusting 25-year-old Engine 5180.

The Scandia council began its work on the Zavoral Mine permit application Tuesday, Jan. 15 by voting unanimously to use the 2020 comprehensive plan, which was in place when the mine application was first submitted in 2008.
Instead of billing the entire cost of recent upgrades to the taxpayers, at their Dec. 18 meeting the Scandia council voted to recoup part of the cost through user fees.
About 70 people came to the Scandia community center Oct. 18 to hear what the city council candidates had to say.
