The Washington County Sheriff’s Department warns residents of telephone scams taking place in the county where scammers will impersonate county sheriff officers using real deputy names and legitimate-seeming phone numbers.

In these calls, the scammers are allegedly requesting money or sensitive information like social security numbers from people who answer the phone.
