Forest Lake Police Department detective Ashley LaValle became the first member of the department to receive the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association’s Meritorious Service Certificate. The certificate is given to individuals who demonstrate consistent, outstanding acts within their community over a period of time. LaValle, 29 at the time of receiving the honor, was one of four detectives with the force and led the departments Community Policing and Crime Prevention Division. Police Chief Rick Peterson presented the award to LaValle, and he was proud of the work she accomplished while running the division. He credited her dedication to the division for its success in solving numerous crimes and community problems and educating the community.
